Introduction Rectal bleeding can occur in various forms - it can be in the form of a bright red blood, a dark red or wine coloured blood or black tarry stools which can indicate the origin of bleeding, from the colon or rectum, small intestine or proximal portion of colon, and stomach or upper part of small intestine, respectively. Management depends on the cause but warm baths to relieve hemorrhoids, eating high fibre diet to avoid constipation, regular exercise, proper hygiene and good intake of water are some measures that can be followed. Action of Ingredients: Hamamelis virginica: This remedy is indicated in varicose veins of the legs. Hemorrhoids, that bleed profusely, are sore and painful, and attended with burning, fullness and heaviness. The anus feels sore and raw, and there is an urging as for stool, while the tumor is of a bluish color. In phlebitis with soreness it is of great service and may be applied locally in the form of a wet dressing. It relieves vaginismus, with intense soreness of the parts, also prurigo of the vulva, when the parts are of a dark purplish color. Chilblains, when the parts are of bluish color, have been relieved by this remedy. Clinical: Bluish chilblains. Phlebitis. Purpura. Varicose veins and ulcers; very sore. Burns. Ecchymosis.
