Haemorrhoids or piles, are vascular structures in the anal canal which become swollen or inflamed. Approximately 50 – 66 % of people develop inflamed or swollen haemorrhoids at some point in their lives. They can be internal or external. Internal haemorrhoids originate above the pectinate line and cause a painless, bright red rectal bleeding when defecating. On the other hand, external haemorrhoids occur below the dentate (or pectinate) line, resulting in pain and swelling of anal region. The bleeding in this case is dark. The factors that predispose to this condition include constipation, diarrhoea, sitting on the toilet for long time, lack of exercise, low fibre diet, increased intra- abdominal pressure and ageing. Action of Ingredients: Calcarea fluorica: Bleeding haemorrhoids. Internal or blind piles frequently, with pain in the back, generally far down the sacrum and constipation. Itching in the anus as from pinworms. Kali muriaticum: Haemorrhoids are bleeding, with dark, thick, fibrinous and clotted blood. Anus is sore, worse on walking or after stools. Ferrum phosphoricum: Indicated in Haemorrhoids with habitual constipation and disposition to prolapse. Stools are watery, bloody and undigested. Kali phosphoricum: Protruding haemorrhoids with swelling and burning pains. Indicated in paretic condition of rectum and colon following removal of haemorrhoids. |
